To raise awareness of the awful, life-altering ramifications of diabetes, we thought we’d do our part and let you in on a little secret.
(Without asking, your eye doctor can tell you if your diabetes is under control.)
How could this be possible?
By design, our eye’s pupil allows a 'window' into the back surface of the eye, called the retina. Where else in your body can your doctor take a look from the outside, and tell you what is on the inside?
But, what is your eye doctor looking for exactly?
If blood sugar levels are high, it will start to damage the blood vessels in the retina. When the blood vessels start to leak blood and other fluid, this is called, Diabetic Retinopathy. If left untreated, it will cause blindness.
Come and see for yourself!
Dr. Wood offers FREE high definition digital scans of the back of the eye as part of your comprehensive eye exam.
I’d like to make a motion.
That is: to NOT LET diabetes win.
Who’s with me?
Remember, your eyes will tell the truth, even if you don’t.
